Take Advantage of Your Living Facility’s Reputation

Your Continued Success Depends On How Your Facility is Perceived

Assisted living facilities are not exempt from the same type of scrutiny that other businesses field on a daily basis. In fact, your business may rely even more heavily on the opinion people have of your facility due to the nature of your work. Whether you like it or not, what people say about your facility matters. Potential residents will look over the reviews of your facility, listen to a friend’s experience, ask people what they’ve heard, and use all that information to make an informed decision about whether or not to use your facility.

Work With the Public’s Perception of Your Business

Even if your facility is in great standing with the public, it only takes one negative customer experience to reflect poorly on your whole institution. You can’t afford to get complacent with your current positive ratings; continue your work in keeping current and potential residents happy so that there is no cause for anyone to say something negative about your facility. Capitalize on your good standing by making sure potential residents know you exist. Promote your business, create a page on your website with good reviews from customers, put together a pamphlet that focuses on everything that you have been praised for in the past.

If your facility is already poorly received by the public, you’re going to have an uphill battle to boost your reputation. Bringing new residents on board will be virtually impossible if you allow your facility to stagnate in its current rut; no one will want to give any thought to the facility with more negative reviews than positive ones. The best thing you can do for your facility is acknowledge your lackluster reputation. If potential residents don’t see that you are aware of the facility’s pitfalls and are actively working to change, why would they have any faith that your facility is where they want to live? In order to build trust with potential residents, you will need to publicly show that you are changing and/or improving your practices in order to ensure resident satisfaction. Promote the new mission statement of your facility, redesign your website with a focus on resident satisfaction, put together a blog or pamphlet that you can distribute to show potential residents how serious you are about changing how your business interacts with its customers. Eventually, your hard work will pay off and your reputation (and revenue) will increase exponentially.
